Floor Plan was originally released in 2016 for Samsung Gear VR and Oculus Rift, just one month after the launch of the original Oculus Rift. It was later released on Steam VR, PlayStation VR, Google Daydream, Oculus Go, and Windows Mixed Reality. While not an immediate success at launch, its unique blend of puzzles, offbeat comedy, and slapstick VR gameplay helped it became a cult hit in the years following its release. There are now upwards of 100 million YouTube views of Floor Plan playthroughs from popular content creators including Jacksepticeye, DanTDM, and ProjectJamesify.
Floor Plan Remastered is the first time the original Floor Plan has been playable on Meta Quest. Floor Plan 2 was released on the platform in 2021.
Floor Plan was an official selection at IndieCade 2016. Upload VR called it “a glorious throwback to the LucasArts heyday of adventure gaming, with outlandish solutions to bizarre puzzles that will often leave you laughing just as much as scratching your brain.”
In addition to a graphics overhaul with new models, textures, and lighting, Floor Plan Remastered offers improved controls, an optional high framerate mode (90hz on Quest 2 or 120hz on Quest 3), and new comfort options. It also includes an unlockable, fully playable version of a never-before-released Floor Plan prototype - a short experience that was created over a year before the original game in the days of the early Oculus devkits, and led to many of the ideas that shaped the Floor Plan series.
