“The game isn’t detecting when I make a thumbs-up.”

Try to make sure your thumb is not resting on the top of the controller (or touching the thumbstick or touchpad) and that you are squeezing both the grip and the trigger. The buttons on many controller types are touch-sensitive and so the game doesn’t think your thumb is up when you are resting it on the controller, even if it is not pressing a button.

“I lost an item. How can I get it back?”

If you return to the lobby and re-enter an elevator (or reload the game), most items should reappear either:

If that didn’t happen, it’s possible that the item was “used up” as part of a puzzle. Here is a list of items that can be used up in that way:

Otherwise, the item should be near where you last left it or threw it. If you can’t find it, please tell us what was lost at [email protected] and we’ll help you figure out where to look.

“How do I access Backside Story?”

From an Existing Save File

When loading your save file, if you have played at least up to the first elevator, the receptionist in the Puzzl Lobby will ask you to check out a strange banging sound in the hallway. Follow his instructions to begin Backside Story.

From a New Save File

On a new save file, play until after the tutorial. Enter the first elevator at least once (the East Tower, or the one on the right when facing the street down the first set of steps from the reception desk). You can use the hand scanner to open the elevator, enter it, wait for it to load, and then immediately hit the button with the puzzle piece house on it to the left of the elevator doors to return to the lobby. Go to the reception desk, and the receptionist will ask you to check out a strange banging sound in the hallway.
